EVA airline was founded on March 8, 1989 by Group Chairman Y. F. Chang and registered on April 7, 1989. The Company immediately prepared for flight operation.

The authorized capital was NT$ 10 billion and the paid-up capital was NT$2.5 billion. First Flight was launched on July 1, 1991. AirlineRatings.com recognized EVA the 3rd of “World’s Top 20 Safest Airlines”. EVA was recognized the 9th of “World’s Safest Airlines” by AERO International, a magazine in Germany.

Its headquarters is, however, located in  376, Hsin-Nan Rd., Sec. 1, Luzhu, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The airline currently has over 85 aircraft in its fleet and it currently covers over 62 destinations.

Evergreen Group Chairman and Founder Dr. Chang Yung-Fa established EVA Airways in 1989, taking the respected transportation heritage and tradition of quality service of sister company and container-shipping leader Evergreen Line into the skies. He ordered 26 brand-new aircraft and set high standards for quality service and safety.

Revenues

In October 1989, the newly formed EVA Airways Corporation placed a US$3.6 billion order for 26 aircraft from Boeing and McDonnell Douglas, including Boeing 747-400 and MD-11 airliners. First year revenues reached US$40 million.
