Baggage Policy

The passenger can bring one personal item and one carry-on bag with you on board. The aircraft cabin has a limited capacity. This even more so on busy flights.

The aircraft may decide to deposit some of the carry-on baggage in the hold and this will be at no extra cost to the passenger that owns the carry-on baggage. Carry-on bags that are bigger than the standard size will go to the hold. The passengers that own such bags will have to pay extra charges for the oversized bags.

As a passenger on Iberia Group Flights, like Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, you can enjoy the following baggage allowances:

  • Tourists can bring 1 cabin bag and 1 personal accessory onboard for free.
  • Short/medium-haul/premium economy passengers can bring 1 cabin bag and 1 personal accessory onboard for free.
  • Business Plus Long Haul can bring 2 cabin bags and 1 personal accessory onboard for free.

The small personal bag should not be bigger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm. It should also fit under the seat at your front. The passenger will have to place any additional items in the overhead compartment. If there is no extra space for storing person items onboard, such items will go to the hold of the aircraft.

The maximum size for a cabin bag is 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. The passenger will need to check in any baggage or cabin bag bigger than this dimension. The personal accessory, on the other hand, should not be bigger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm. It may be a briefcase, laptop, small portfolio or handbag.

Check in policy

The passenger should check in 24 hours before flight departure. You can check-in online in iberia.com or at the airport check-in kiosk. Check below for online check in requirements:

  • Online check in is possible only for flights operated within 24 hours
  • It is also for flights operated by Iberia airline
  • The ticket to use for online check-in must be electronic

The passenger should arrive early so that there will be enough time for airport security checks, baggage checks and so on. An online check is even possible for passengers that have bags to check. You only need to drop the bag at the bag-drop or check-in counter at the airport. Bear in mind also that you can change or select your seat via online check-in.

If you plan to check-in at the airport, you should set aside adequate time for all necessary checks. If you have bags to check, for example, you should be at the airport about 90 minutes before the flight departure. If you do not have any bag to check-in, you should check in some 60 minutes before flight departure.

After check in, you should move straight to the boarding gate without delay. This way, you will not miss out on your iberia airline flight. The boarding gate will close 20 minutes before flight departure. It is important that your travel documents are handy.

They should also be up to date. You will not be allowed to board the flight if you do not go through the necessary security checks.
